New Tata Tigor Launched in India at Rs. 4.88* Lakhs
New Tata Tigor 2017
The Tata did make a comeback with their power packed hatchback, the Tiago. Based on this same hatch, this Indian manufacturer is all set to once again raise your eyebrows with their latest ‘Style back’(that is what Tata has decided to call their sub-4m sedan), the Tata Tigor. Priced at Rs 4.70 lakh(Ex-Showroom, Delhi), is the sedan actually apart(just like its Style back title) from the rest of its class, time to find out!
Tata Tigor Exterior
Now, Tata has definitely decided to be aggressive in the marketing of its upcoming automobiles. The ‘Impact design’ philosophy is expected to create impact and, it does(up to a certain extent). It is difficult to differentiate between Tigor and Tiago with the subtle twitches like black smoked projector dual barreled headlamps, dual toned honeycomb (and cheerful too) front grille and a very accurate presence of chrome in the Tata Tigor.
It is only from the side when you notice the major design update for this sedan(3992x1677x1537 mm). The sharp and edgy sloping shoulder line catches the glimpse in the first instance itself which enhances the brightwork(The ‘slingshot design’ as the maker has entitled it). The chrome highlight running through the beltline is definitely a treat for the eyes. Arrow shaped rear windows pointing towards the rear is something which is not a common sight but it does look trendy. Interestingly, the roof line is very leniently sloped toward the rear which gives a coupe-like feel(I know, it cannot be compared with, but somewhat like the BMW X6).
Have a closer and neat look at the C-pillar and you will notice the chamfered like edge on the roof which will definitely give more headroom in the cabin and the way C-pillar melts down to the rear, nice. Largely designed front and rear doors along with the elevated rooftop at the B-pillar will make ingress and egress, a bliss. The mildly flared wheel arches with the inclined waistline create a light-dark effect. Subtle ground clearance of 165 mm is pretty decent. The widely swept smoked headlights are visible from the sides too. The 15-inches diamond cut dual toned alloy wheels are one of the showstoppers of the car.
Tata Tigor outperforms its hatchback counterpart with an additionally stretched wheelbase of 50 mm and 246 mm length. The hexagonal pattern from the grille is also reflected in the split end LED taillamps. The four bar link design(for operating the tailgate) location gives a very much required break to the conventional design of the boot(capacity of 419 litres). It surely widens the opening thus loading/unloading luggage in the boot is a less tedious job(But still is, due to the elevated tailgate). The eye-catching LED lamps get connected by a bright and bold chrome strip. After the repositioning of hinges(or the four bar link, as the Tatas call it), another unusual feature is the opening the boot which can be done only through the switch(for which to operate, the ignition needs to be turned on)which is located on the dashboard in the cabin or through the key. The creases on the dual toned bumper encapsulating the night lamp indicators give it altogether different shape. The high mounted LED stop lamp beneath the spoiler also adds to the signature styling.
Tata Tigor Interior
Step inside the cabin and the Tata Tigor can easily be misunderstood for Tiago. Dual tone(Black & Silver) and granular finished dashboard enhance the plush interiors. The existing satin finished steering wheel gets piano black finishing also with mounted controls.Tata Tigor features all new ConnectNext 5″ touch screen with voice recognition and smartphone integration with ConnectNext app suite developed by Harman. It also features navigation, emergency assist, service reminder etc. by connecting an Android phone with USB(iOS users won’t like this feature). All these functions can be accessed through Android apps. The car also features automatic climate control. The central console also gets a piano black. The ventilated glove box is nice and wide and unlike other gloveboxes, this one is flat and not sloping when you open it. There are eight speakers, AUX, USB and Bluetooth capability, all four power windows with driver’s side auto-down, electric ORVMs and tilt steering. The Tigor also gets a rear defogger & fog lamps.
Tata claims the car is equipped with 24 storage spaces for your knick-knacks like Bottle Holders, Cup Holders, Bag Hook, Coat Hook etc. It also gets a 12 V socket between the front two seats for charging devices. Front, as well as rear seats, are very well cushioned and also with bolsters which will feel very soft and spongy. At the rear, the seat stretches all the way to the edge of the doors so as to utilize that extra amount of space which will make accommodating a third passenger in the rear more comfortable. The inclusion of center armrest along with cup holders in the rear adds to the extra sense of comfort. Front headrests are adjustable while the rear headrests are fixed(but considering their large size, perhaps it won’t need any adjustment). Driver’s seat can be adjusted vertically. Thanks to its smart design, there is ample amount of headroom(due to the chamfered design of the roof from outside) and legroom(owing to its extended wheelbase and scooped out front seats from the back). The rear seat squab is on the lower side which affects thigh support and might make stepping out of the vehicle a bit tedious job for the elders.
Tata Tigor Specification
