Nissan Micra Expert Review – Check Advantage and Disadvantage
The top grosser from Nissan in this very segment, the Micra recently received a major cosmetic update on the exterior and interior. Price at 4.55 lakh rupees (ex-showroom Delhi), the Micra is also one of the most affordable premium automatic hatchbacks equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). As far as the competition is concerned, the Nissan Micra hatchback competes against the likes of Maruti Swift, Renault Pulse, Ford Figo, Hyundai Grand i10, Chevrolet Beat and Tata Bolt. Nissan Micra facelift is a global model that was launched in the Thai market in the earlier part of this year. Nissan has managed to remove a lot of the rounded edges that defined the previous car and according to many critics gave it a feminine look.
Nissan Micra Exteriors
The showstopper of the front fascia is the chrome on the lower front grille that creates a distinct identity. The brand new radiator grille now gets a honeycomb design and features a Nissan logo surrounded by a V-shaped trough. The bumper has also been revised and now features new fog lamps as well as a redesigned air dam with a thick bold Black plastic strip. Overall, the front is definitely more aggressive than before (Those LED DRLs cannot go unnoticed). The new shape of fog lamps is kind of, cute and joyous when seen from the front. The revamped LED headlamps sweep back into the bonnet which is way better and masculine than the outgoing variant. There would be hardly anything to notice from the sides except for the muscular alloy wheels. The car receives the same body colored ORVMs and door handles. From the headlamps flow distinct shoulder lines along the flanks, dipping at the front doors and then rising towards the rear. And the increasingly popular ‘floating roof’ look is created by black door and rear screen pillars, the latter housing the rear door handles,
At the back, the hatchback grabs a refreshed bumper as well LED tail light assembly also with the LED stop lamp. The creases along the taillamps and for the bonnet make the overall designing of the car more contemporary with dimensions of 3825x1665x1530mm. The hatchback has a boot space of 251-litres.The petrol variant gets 154 mm of ground clearance and the diesel versions get 150 mm. The small car is currently offered in six exciting colors – Brick Red, Turquoise Blue, Storm White, Blade Silver, Onyx Black and Olive Green. The lower variants come with 165 /70 R14 tires with steel wheels while the top end variant gets 175/60 R15 tires with alloy wheels. The large glasshouse too is easy to see out of and the new X-Shift variant also gets rear-parking sensors to make it easier to park.
Nissan Micra Interiors
The all-black interiors that feature piano black finish with silver accents on the center console are engaging. There are a plethora of upgradations on the side like the seating arrangement, black door trims, and seat fabric with blue stitching, adequate headroom (Courtesy-Balloon like the design on the outside), a digital clock, cup/ bottle holders and a passenger vanity mirror. The wheelbase of 2450 mm provides adequate leg room for the occupants that enhances the level of comfort. Seat color is different for each trim which gives the monotonous interiors a break. Overall the seating arrangement with the upholstery and bolstering is decent with driver’s height adjustable seat. An, otherwise satisfactory audio system with a USB interface as well as an aux-in port comes along four speakers and roof antenna. It gets a 4.3-inch color display audio system with reverse camera.
Nissan Micra Engine & Performance
As far as the engine specification is concerned, the Nissan Micra hatchback is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel. The 1.2-litre DOHC 12 Valve 3-cylinder inline petrol engine generates a maximum power of 75.94 bhp @ 6000 rpm with a peak torque of 104 Nm @ 4400 rpm whereas the diesel engine generates 63.12 bhp of power @ 4000 rpm and 160 Nm of peak torque @ 2000 rpm. The manual variants are mated with a 5-Speed transmission gearbox that provides simplified gear shifting, whereas automatic trims are coupled with an advanced CVT transmission. Coming to the mileage, the petrol variant is claimed to return the mileage of 19.34 kmpl while the diesel unit returns the fuel efficiency of 23.08 kmpl.
In terms of safety, the Japanese maker has also focussed on safety aspects of the passengers inside the car with dual front airbags, engine immobilizer, ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Key Remove Warning Indicator, Door ajar warning indicator, Headlight on Warning Indicator, Driver Seat Belt etc.
