Upcoming Tata Nexon Coming Soon in India
Tata motors have been investing heavily in the design element of its upcoming cars which is evident from the manufacturer’s latest offerings viz. Tiago, Tigor, Hexa and now with its maiden attempt in the sub 4-metre SUV segment, the Nexon. Unveiled at the 2014 Auto Expo, the Nexon can be called as an ‘SUV Coupe’. With its launching expected before the festive season of Diwali of 2017, the Nexon is estimated to be priced around 6.0 lakh rupees(Ex-Showroom, Delhi). With the segment already dominated with players like Maruti Suzuki Vitara Breeza, Ford EcoSport, surely the Nexon will need to outperform than its counterparts.
Tata Nexon Interior
So far of what is seen from the spy shot images, Nexon will feature color coded interiors with a floating touchscreen infotainment system by Harman (with USB, AUX & Bluetooth connectivity) equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Apart from this, the car also features multiple utility spaces and laptop trays, reverse camera, start/stop push button, keyless entry etc. The cabin is integrated with climate control, rear AC vents with individual controls. In terms of comfort, the seats appear well cushioned with bolsters also with front & rear armrests (with the rear armrest having provision for cup holder). One of the noticeable features of the car is the new driving mode knob to switch between City, Eco and Sports modes. Subtle use of Piano black and glossy shades at places in the cabin gives the car a more lively touch.
Tata Nexon Exterior
The Tata Nexon is the fourth product to be designed and developed under the IMPACT design philosophy (after Tiago, Hexa and Tigor). The design (3995x1811x1607 mm) of the car from the front is highlighted by a humanity line Black hexagonal mesh grille coupled with projector headlamps (both of which are given a border in silver shade) thus giving the conventional design a break. The indicators are also quite unusually submerged above the headlamps which create its own impression. The fog lamps are also submerged in a white ceramic border, stacked-out matrix air dams, LED daytime running lights are some of the other standout features of the compact SUV.
The somewhat elevated roof design carries its legacy from the Tigor & Tiago which will surely give that extra bit of headroom inside the cabin (but might interfere with Ingress/Egress). A closer look at the C-pillar will give a fine example of the design element with the confluence of all 4 shades of the SUV. The sharp slanting shoulder lines start from the headlamps, through the door handles and finally ending into the taillights. Body-colored electronically operated ORVMs bulged out wheel arches, black plastic cladding on the doors are some of the other cosmetic features the car offers. The contrast color of the roof (with the shark fin antenna) and the ceramic element (continued from the front fog lamps) for the beltline strike out the look very distinctly.
Coming to the rear, in its first impression, the Nexon might feel a bit over designed. The car gets LED taillights. The tailgate of the car looks too compact when compared to its overall dimensions which might make its utilization a tedious job. Rear bumper gets black plastic cladding. The white ceramic filling from the beltline and front fog lamps can be seen in the rear too which gives the rear three shades viz. Body color, black (for the claddings on the bumper and at the center) and ceramic white (for the thick bold symmetric strip at the center of the rear) thus making the car to look wider. Thanks to the X1 platform, the SUV gets a tall stance also with its big set of alloy wheels of 16 inches.
Tata Nexon Specification
Under the hood, Tata Nexon will most likely feature a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged Revotron petrol engine capable of producing 120 BHP of maximum power and a peak torque of 170 Nm and a brand new designed 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq diesel engine capable of producing 110 BHP of maximum power and 260 Nm of peak torque. For the gearbox, the car might get a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT variant too. As far as fuel economy is concerned, the SUV is expected to deliver a mileage of around 18 kmpl for the petrol variant and 23 kmpl for the diesel variant.
