Mitsubishi Company will be launching New Mitsubishi New Pajero Sport SUV
Unveiled at the 2015 Bangkok International Grand Motor Show, Mitsubishi is all set to launch the upgraded variant of its premium SUV, the Pajero. With an estimated price tag of 25 lakh rupees, the car might be launched somewhere in mid-2017. With the existence of prominent players like the all new Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Hyundai SantaFe, Chevrolet’s new Trailblazer, the Pajero has some very serious competition to create its own impression.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Exterior
With an increase of 90mm, the SUV now measures 4785 mm in length, 1815 mm in width and 1085mm in height with a wheelbase of 2800 mm and a subtle ground clearance of 205mm. The SUV will now receive company’s ‘dynamic shield’ front fascia and is most likely to be mounted on the same platform as that of L200/Triton. Ample amount of chrome has been inserted for the bold strips connecting the headlamps, thick pair of mirror imaged C-shaped brackets (which start from the headlamps and traverse all the way till the sides of fog lamps) and for the carmaker's symbol situated exactly at the center. The car gets a black shaded corrugated bumper, dynamic grille, headlamps with a thin strip of LED daytime running lights. Interestingly, the car also gets front parking sensors which will be very useful in those cut-to-cut spaces while parking the automobile.
From the sides, the huge chrome fenced palpable wheel arches (which get connected with a broad Black plastic cladding surrounding the 18-inches drop dead gorgeous alloys) catch the first glimpse of the car. Use of chrome has been dreadful throughout the car with a uniform application through the beltline which rises very steeply towards the D-pillar (Door handles and ORVM's to get chrome). The sharply creased shoulder line connects headlamps and taillamps from the sides with a fading effect towards the B-pillar (which is blackened along with the C-pillar).
It’s quite an unusual sight from the rear. The vertically mounted LED taillamps besides the large windscreen are the most distinguishing feature of the car. Some might like it, others might love it. And obviously, after the front and sideways, the rear cannot be an exception to the chrome inserts throughout the car with the thick bold stripe above the abyss shaped number plate area and for the carmaker's symbol at the center of the rear. The twin exhaust pipes look very sporty (obviously, with the chrome encapsulation) with rear parking sensors mounted on the dual toned bumper.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Interior
The monotonous interiors of the Pajero get a combination of matt and piano Black with silver accents running through them. The 4-spoked multi-functional leather wrapped steering wheel lives up to its expectations. Functionalities like Dual-zone climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery, electrically operated ORVMs are very typical for a car of this genre. The second and third row of seats gets the roof mounted individual AC vents. Some of the intelligent features include electrically operated handbrake (which is something Mitsubishi has tried for the first time with Pajero), spaces for storage under armrests, cup holders between the front two seats, ventilated glove box, mirror technology with four cameras etc.
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Specification
The muscular SUV is powered by a brand new 2.4-litre diesel engine which is equipped with MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) VVVT technology which churns out a maximum power of 178.5bhp and a torque of 430Nm. Transmitting power to the wheels is a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission. Mitsubishi claims that the new engine will be 17% more fuel efficient than the existing one which will also curb the CO2 emission by 200 gm/km. The 2WD (two-wheel drive), and optional Super Select 4WD drive system with a low-range gearbox and differential lock will also continue to be on the offer.
The maker has also taken a serious note for the safety of passengers inside the car with provisions like RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution Body) construction system which will maintain high cabin cohesion and efficient energy absorption of the vehicle (as claimed by the maker), seven airbags, forward collision mitigation system, electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), Blind Sport Warning, all wheel disc brakes, hill descent control and a system to avoid misacceleration and anti-lock braking system (ABS).
