2017 Maruti Suzuki S-Cross Expert Review- Check the Advantage and Disadvantage
Maruti Suzuki introduced their first crossover SUV collection with the S-Cross in India in 2014. The first Maruti to be launched in India was the first 1.6-litre Multijet engine, the S-Cross comes with a macho styling. At present, the car has undergone an upgradation in terms of looks but has its 1.6-litre diesel engine has been done away with.

Maruti S-Cross Exterior
The flared tail lamp at the back of the car is split and has one half which overlaps on to boot lid. There are a deep set registration plate and rear bumper with black cladding and silver scratch plates which give Maruti S-Cross a sporty look. Major changes have been made to the car’s nose. This model comes with a new, butch face apart from a new grille, bumper and new headlamps.
On the back, the S Cross is equipped with new tail lamps with LED detailing. The other new features which have been added to the exterior of the car include front grille, front bumper, headlamps, alloy wheels and updated tail lamps with LED. The car comes with a 1.3-litre motor with SHVS system.
The car has undergone a facelift with a wide chrome with a chrome front grille and restyled headlamps. The LED light source of the projector headlamps. The lower variants still have halogen projectors. The tail lamps have a different styling as well. The crossbar’s appeal has been enhanced by the exterior tone which includes 4 exciting shades and an all-new shade-Pearl Arctic White, Premium Silver, Granite Grey, Nexa Blue, Caffeine Brown and Granite Grey.
It has a DDiS 200 diesel engine which generates 89 BHP of the max power of 4000 rpm and peak torque of 200 Nm@1750 rpm and runs using Smart Hybrid Vehicle System technology. The engine has been coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox which transmits power to front wheels.
Maruti S-Cross Interior
The interior of the car has been created using soft-touch materials. The overall cabin, however, is a bit too plasticky and lacks the luxurious appeal of cars of this segment. The touchscreen display remains the same as before but supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The dashboard of the car has a high-gloss piano-black treatment and has a satin-polished chrome trim. People who are opting for the top Alpha variant will also get a leather upholstery.
Maruti S-Cross comes with comfortable seats and a comfortable driving position because of the rake and reaches adjustment of the steering wheel. The rear is pretty spacious and comfortable though passengers sitting at the back won’t have AC vents. The 375-litre boot has an extra 12V power outlet and is large enough for holding luggage for a brief vacation. The seats fold flat in 60:40 ratio, enabling passengers to increase space as and when it is necessary.

The smaller, 1.3-litre motor produces a power of 90 PS and 200 Nm. It operates using the mild-hybrid tech which bumps fuel efficiency to 25.1 kmpl. Transmission duties are managed by a 5-speed manual. The car comes with an acclaimed green technology DDiS200 with Smart Hybrid which helps in minimizing emissions to as low as 105.5 gm/km. The wider tyres (215/60 R16) forms a perfect contrast two-tone machine finished alloys, it offers an imposing on-road presence. It comes with rear seat ISO-FIX child seat safety mount. These features are available across all models of S-Cross.
