Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is a bike which is going to be launched in India in 2018. Known for its classic British laid-back style, the bike has been designed using high-specification rider focused technology and engineering, it comes with a host of new features.
Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster Features
The bike has more relaxed ergonomics with forward-set footpegs, swept-back handlebars and different types of rider aid technology. The bike still retains some of the distinctive features of a Bonneville such as 1200 cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. It has adopted many features from Bonneville Bobber such as minimal bodywork, hard-tail look, classic ‘drum bake’ inspired wheel hub and slashed cut exhausts. Apart from the classic silhouette, retro themed-carb style throttle body covers, rubber fork gaiters, machine cooled fins and high –level finish on badging.
The bike also has brushed engine covers and special bronze 1200 HT badges. Though the bike has a bobbed-looked, it has been specially designed to offer a relaxed two-up riding experience over apart from cruising ability over a long distance. The bike is powered by the same engine as in the case of Bonneville Bobber and Bonneville T12O. But there are some slight changes.
The high-torque, 1200 cc parallel-twin engine of Speedmaster which produces 76 bhp of power at 6100 rpm and 106 Nm of peak torque at 4000 rpm. As per Triumph, Speedmaster produces up to 10 percent more torque at 4500 rpm than Bonneville T120 and 2 percent more torque. With a weight of 245.5 kg, Speedmaster is also one of the heaviest bikes in the Bonneville series.
Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster Specifications
Speedmaster is equipped with fat 16-inch tires and wire-spoke wheels from both front and rear. The bike has a dual-disc front brake system with the latest Bobber and Bribe callipers. It, however, has a different suspension tuning with a 41 mm cartridge fork and rear suspension unit with a top-up spring and dual rate main spring which optimize a passenger’s extra weight.
The bike’s fuel tank has retained the distinct Bonneville shape. It is suitable for touring up to 176 miles. The major changes are visible in the bike’s rear where there is a fixed (frame-mounted) fender which carries a pillion pad for a passenger. (The pad, as well as passenger grab rail, are removable if you intend to have a different single-seat look.) The position of the rider also changes with the normal forward-mounted footpegs and controls working with a low, 28-inch seat height. There is a wide, beach-cruiser handlebar which wraps back the classic cruiser fashion.
