Upcoming Renault Kaptur Car
With the huge success of the Duster, the Renault, a French car maker is set to deepen its roots in Indian Auto market with the new Renault Kaptur which is said to be launched in late 2017. The European Captur and the Indian Kaptur sounds familiar but that is where the similarity ends. The European car is a 5 seater while the Indian model is about to be a 7 seater. This new car will join the SUV lineup of Renault in India. The SUV will be developed at a Renault-Nissan production facility in Chennai. This new feature loaded car is supposed to take out the competition of Mahindra XUV 500, Tata Hexa, Hyundai Creta and Honda BRV.
New Renault Kaptur 2017 Exterior
The Renault Kaptur will be 4333 mm long, 1813 mm wide and 1613 mm high with the wheelbase of 2674 mm and ground clearance of 204 mm the boot space will be 387 litres and expandable up to 1200 litres. This new SUV is 18 mm longer, 9 mm narrower and 12 mm shorter than its sibling Duster. The basic design is inspired by the European car Captur and the features like the crossover profile make it look modern and sporty.
The Indian model features a new grill, new bumper with C-shaped LED DRL's, new alloy wheel design, longer rear overhang, longer wheelbase and much more. It sits on 16-inch alloy wheels and a perfect character line for the SUV. It might also offer some customizable options and dual tone exterior paint as per requirements of the customers. The SUV is equipped with trendy tail lamps detailed masculine bumper to make it attractive even from the rear.

The SUV is about to be spacious and packed with a lot of advanced features to play with. The infotainment system has a 7-inch touchscreen display equipped with radio, Bluetooth connectivity, reverse parking camera, etc. And other features include digital speedometer, keyless entry, button start cruise control and automatic climate control systems. The Russian model has remote engine start system and heated windscreen which might be available in India as well. The SUV claims to have the tallest ride height of 708 mm in the segment. It is also supposed to have 60:40 split phone rear seats and rain sensing wipers.
New Renault Kaptur 2017 Specifications
The new Renault SUV will be available in 1.6-litre petrol version and 1.5-litre diesel version. Renault has not yet revealed exact technical specifications of the SUV but it is expected to share the engine with the Duster, the petrol engine will be powered by a 1.6-litre K4M unit which gives out 103 bhp of power and 148 Nm of torque. While the diesel gives the torque of 245 Nm and 108 bhp power.
Renault has confirmed that the SUV will be available with AWD system with lock Centre differential and the option of 6-speed manual transmission and an automatic. If the Kaptur shares the Duster engine it will provide the mileage of around 13 to 15 kmpl of the petrol version and 19 to 20 kmpl from the diesel version. It is also loaded with features such as vehicle stability control, Hill start assists, and ABS with EBD and brake assist and engine start/stop system.
New Renault Kaptur 2017 Expected Price and Launching Date
Facing the competition with Mahindra XUV 500 and Tata Hexa the variant is expected to be priced with the basic model at Rs. 10 lakhs and top model at Rs. 13 lakhs for the diesel variant and Rs. 9 lakhs to Rs. 12 lakhs for petrol but will be premium than the prevailing Duster. The Expected launching date of Kaptur is Dec 2017.
